{Our Story}

The night we met
November 21, 2009
Once upon a Saturday night in Logan there was a party...
This wasn't just any party though, this was the SigEp's Great Gatsby party. All who were in attendance were dressed in their 1920s finery. For Marty and Wendy, however, this was more than just a party. This would be the night that they had been waiting for their whole lives.

The boy, Martin Paul Abbott, arrived at the party with his entourage from Weber State University. Marty was known in the land to be a fabulous dancer.

The girl, Wendy Nicole Boswell, came to the party alone because she knew she had many friends who were already inside. Wendy was known as a scholar who liked to let her hair down on Saturday nights.

The night went on and both were having a glorious time. Then fate stepped in. From the DJ station a rockin' beat started to play. Marty saw Wendy from across the room and began gravitating towards her. Instantly, there was no denying they had chemistry. The song ended and Marty asked Wendy for her name. The two had finally met. This could have been the end of their story right then and there, for that was the only song they danced to that night.

Marty knew there was something different about Wendy. Even though his friends were about to leave he ran back inside to find her. He knew this could be the last time he ever saw her. Finally he found her on the dance floor again and he asked for her phone number. Wendy was a lady and didn't usually give out her number at parties, but she saw something in his eyes that made her say yes. Marty didn't have his cell phone with him so Wendy instructed him to get her something to write with. Marty dashed up the stairs and found the closest writing utensil available. When he returned to Wendy she realized that he didn't have any paper so naturally, she wrote her number across his forearm with the green marker he had brought her (if Marty was getting her number, he surely wasn't going to get any others).

Marty & Wendy went on their first date a week and a half later(December 3, 2009). They fell madly in love and after eight months of dating they were engaged...
How he proposed

July 22, 2010

Marty Proposed on a day like any other. It was a Thursday in the summer of 2010. Wendy was in Layton visiting Marty and his family. She had spent the day working with Marty's mom in her shop while Marty was attending classes at Weber. When he returned that evening he asked Wendy if she would like to take the dogs (buddy & Jenny) on a little hike. To Wendy, this was completely normal, she had no reason to suspect that Marty was up to something. When they arrived at Fernwood, Marty and Wendy walked hand in hand up the trail with their furry friends leading the way. When Marty began leading Wendy off the trail she was confused as to why they were stopping. When she turned to look at Marty he was on one knee with the most perfect ring in his hand. When Marty finally asked her the most important question a man can ever ask a woman "Wendy, will you marry me?" All Wendy could do was shout "YES! YES! ABSOLUTELY YES!" Then she jumped up into his arms as the dogs danced around their feet and the sun set over the mountains.
