Painless Pumpkin Cookies

Nothing melts away a stressful day like a warm chocolate chip pumpkin cookie.. I am so glad that fall is here and it's officially comfort food season! Our apartment smells so good right now {Insert spicy pumpkin smell} see what I mean? ;) anyways.. here's a super simple and delicious pumpkin cookie recipe to help everyone get into the fall mood:

Pumpkin Cookies:

Ingredients:
1 can pumpkin (not pumpkin pie)
1 spice cake mix (I used 2 since I could only find giant cans of pumpkin)
1 bag chocolate chips (add as many as you want)

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350°
  2. Mix cake mix and pumpkin
  3. Fold in chocolate chips
  4. Lightly spray cookie sheet
  5. Use spoon to drop cookies onto cookie sheet
  6. Bake at 350° for 10-12 min
  7. Let stand for a few mins then transfer to cooling rack
  8. Place in air tight container after eating all you can!
* Warning it makes about 3 dozen cookies

Pumpkin cookies so easy a stress case can make them! :D Enjoy!

Come fly away with me

Today Marty and I went to the park to fly his new remote controlled plane. He picked up this hobby from my dad who's a plane enthusiast. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon with ideal flying conditions.

We packed a picnic dinner and had a great time :)

Marty's pretty stoked about his new hobby.

After we were done at the park we decided to pack up and head up the canyon to see the leaves that are starting to change. We drove along the North Ogden Divide, it was gorgeous!

We stopped at this little trail and explored.

Where's Marty?

Perfect Sunday afternoon..
 We love fall!

Overpass Dinner

Since high school, I've wanted to have a dinner date on an overpass above the freeway. Tonight Marty made my dream come true. We got spicy chicken sandwiches from Carl's JR and headed up to the overpass on 12th street for a sunset picnic. I'm so glad to have Marty back! He's finally done with the night project at work so we can have our date nights again.

We had fun watching the traffic, it's surprisingly entertaining.  & We counted 17 people honking at us, what can we say? We're a cute couple ;)

We totally recommend this as a fun date, & it's very affordable. We want to come back when it's darker and have a candle light dinner on an overpass. Oooo lala!

We sat on a blanket with our backs against the side.

Pretty sunset

So happy :) Thanks for putting up with my cheesy ideas Marty ♥

Ps: Fun fact, when I googled "overpass dinner", to see if anyone else had done it or had cute ideas, the only thing that came up was "passover dinner" ha.

Feelin' Crafty ✂

For some reason, with Fall in the air all I want to do is get my crafty on and decorate our house! I've been decorating and improving one project at a time (to avoid breaking the bank). This weekend I got another kitchen wall done! This wall has been driving me crazy! I have issues with big blank white walls..

Isn't it cute?!

Luckily Marty hung in there with my crafting madness. I dragged him to several stores in search of the perfect shelves and accessories. But now that he can see the whole picture, he loves it too :) I already had most of the stuff. I got the flowers and vase at the dollar store and the "A" and chalk board at Michaels. I modge-podged scrapbook paper on the "A" it was originally a plain white (boring). And the shelves were in a set from Target.

I love how the kitchen feels a little more complete now :]

I'm also excited for how fun and easy it will be to decorate for other holidays as well!

Thanks for letting me cure my crafty-bug babe :)

Dog Gone Weekend

I got a nice surprise this weekend when Marty called me Friday on my way home from work and informed me that his work for the night was canceled! Even better he still got paid for the night. Marty and I have been working opposite schedules, 1 week down, 1 to go :( I work 8am-6pm and he's working 6pm-8am! So we miss each other by a few minutes every day! It's no fun at all.. But we made sure to take full advantage of our weekend this week and we had a blast! This weekend was made even better with the return of our partners in crime, the Hugies. They've been away in California all summer for Justin's job training, and they surprised us a few weeks ago with their news that they are expecting a bundle of joy in March! We helped them move all of their stuff out of storage this morning. Afterwards Marty and I ran around and took care of all the things we've been neglecting because we've been so busy! We took a break from our chores when Marty's mom called us and asked if we would come help her with all the doggies at her house. Marty's sister went out of town for the weekend so they brought their two dogs, Fez and Kelso, to the Abbott's for the weekend. With Buddy and Jenny already there, that brought the doggie total to 4! We definitely had our hands full...

When we attempted to take them all on a walk, Kelso took off running and then laid down and played dead so Marty had no choice but carry him back to the car. haha.

They look like they're in obedience school, Marty was tempting them all with a treat.

Even I ended up in a dog pile.

It was so great to finally spend some time with my best friend and our fury little friends, best way to spend a weekend :)

The first of many...

We successfully had our first campout at the new Abbott property this weekend. I'm sure it was just the first of many more to come. It was so nice to get away for the holiday weekend and not worry if all the good spots were taken because we owned the place ;) For Marty, this was a childhood dream come true. His parents have been talking about buying a property and building a cabin for decades and they finally went through with it! The only bummer about this weekend was the fact that we were missing a few Abbotts to share the maiden campout with (Bruce, Corey, Bethany, Kayla, and Teyton).

{Sunridge}

Marty and I had a great time 4-wheeling and exploring other parts of Sunridge.

↓This is the community picnic area ↑

Cute bridge photo-op

The scenery was so gorgeous and there wasn't a cloud in the sky!

This funky totem pole was in front of one of the cabins.

Ahhh talk about some R&R

Jenny got some hammock time with me,

And soaked up some rays at the same time.

Buddy was in doggie heaven!

The next area Marty and I explored was Moose Lake

Pretty little spot, I can't wait to take out a little boat and paddle around the lake.

We had mixed feelings about seeing hints of fall while we were exploring.

Marty was like a kid in a candy store :] We both had such a great time and we're already making plans to go back before the weather gets too chilly. We're excited for a new tradition of summers at Sunridge.
