Marty turns 24!

Today my love turned 24 years old! It's kinda crazy that I have now been able to celebrate 3 of his birthdays. We celebrated with our traditional (2 years in a row) carrot cake which is Marty's absolute favorite. After cake and a home-made pizza we went for a ride on our new bikes! We went about 15 miles on the Riverdale Trail and it was so much fun! This trail has a lot more curves and hills and our bikes handled everything like a charm. I think overall Marty had a pretty great birthday and he's optimistic about 24 being a good year :]

{Happy Birthday Babe!}

Our new hobby

After weeks of brainstorming what kind of new hobby we could get addicted to together, we finally arrived at the conclusion that we should get road bikes! Yesterday we got two giant boxes delivered to our apartment and we are already obsessed with the new additions to our family.

Marty's birthday is on Sunday, so the bikes are also an early birthday present :] See how excited he was?

Today after I got off work we decided to take them out for the official maiden voyage! We've been doing some research on bike trails in our area and we discovered that there is an entire network trails right in our back yard. For today's ride we went to the Ogden river trail. It was gorgeous! I never knew Ogden could be so  picturesque.

See what I mean?

Loving our latest adventure

We're excited for a summer filled with more great rides!
If anyone knows of any other great trails, we'd love to hear about them!

Golden Spike

A couple of weeks ago Marty and I went on an adventure to Golden Spike National Monument. Marty had never been, and it had been years since the last time I had been. It was fun to take a little day trip to the middle of nowhere. We just barely missed the anniversary of the Golden Spike, which was on May 10th, 1869.

Everyday the park rangers and volunteers put on reenactment shows.

The spot where the actual golden spike was placed ↑

We recommend taking a trip back in time to this important moment in Utah's history.  Golden Spike, is a fun and educational destination for a little road trip.
